Week 9 - Blogging for Business
After reading the lecture and textbook assignment,
write a blog post explaining how personal you think you can be on your blog.
When does it make sense to add personality to a post, and when does it not?
Being
personal on my blog as real estate agent would be highly beneficial.
Introducing my positive attitude, actions, behavior, and personality in
my blog will give a viewer a sense of who I am, my values, and my character.
It will set me apart from my
competitors in displaying my uniqueness. They will be able to decide if they
would like to work with me to find their dream home. They may discover that we have
similar interests, standards, backgrounds or hobbies that would make me more
relatable to them. Buying a home is a lifetime decision that they not only want
an expert and professional but also someone who they will be able to
communicate with openly and trust. They want to know if I will have their best
interests in mind and negotiate the best deal for them. I can become their
lifelong friend and maybe get referrals of how easy it was to work with me and
how happy they were with the results. It’s a win/win relationship by being
yourself in a blog and with your clients. No pretension but honesty and
respect.
Injecting your own
personality is an area of distinction that will set you apart from your
competitor. If it is your own business there’s more freedom to be yourself. If
you are in a company that involves others, you must keep a healthy balance to
reflect who you are and what the company stands for. It’s important to remember
who your target customers are. Set the tone that is attuned to their wants.
What tangible voice will they “hear” when they read your blog? Can they relate to you or your business?
Take into account that you want to generate an emotion that will move them to
be your customer. Along with you or your company’s brand personality and
valuable information, use colors and images in your blog that will stir an
emotion in them to use your services or buy your products. Being personal can make
you and your company relatable and intimate. You want them to keep coming back.

I agree with you that you need to personalize your blog in order to help you gain clients. There is so much competition in real estate sales that you need to find something that will separate you from the pack. Adding that personal touch may also help in finding common interests that will help to bond you with a client.
